Namik, the village and glacier, is situated in the ancient indo-tibetan trade route and was a once prosperous town. we followed the trail from Gogina village to the top of Sudankhan pass, from where you get a panoramic view of the himalayas, and ended the trail at Bala village near Munsiyari. a collection of photos from the trek…
in july 2010, i did a cycle ride through Kinnaur and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh. i started from Kalpa and ended my ride at gramphoo on the manali-leh highway, a distance of about 240 km. i had previously done the route (and to leh via the manali-leh highway) twice by motorcycle and hence knew what was involved, where to stop for nightly halts etc. i did the ride on a cannondale f9 mtb (which my son uses to commute to school now :)).
We got together a big gang for this trek in april 2017: me, Simon and his daughter Sona, Bala (from Chennai), Satish and Elveera from Bangalore, Param from Satara, Rahul from Nagpur and Harry and his daughter Daisy from Delhi. Roopkund is a high altitude lake (almost 16,500 ft) also known as the skeleton lake. However, some of us were not able to reach it because it suddenly opened up and snowed on the day we were to climb towards it from Baguabhasa. We rerouted the trek to include pindari glacier.
With Simon, Srikanth, Krishna, Shreyas, Ram, from may 6-16, 2012.
did this trek with Rahul and Veena between june 8-18, 2011. maiktoli dominated the views throughout.
